These treatments should be enhancing, subtle and keep everyone guessing why you look so well.

What is Wrinkle Relaxation?

This treatment is designed to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles. For example, when you frown the muscles between your eyebrows draw together and over time this can leave wrinkles in your skin. Similarly, ‘crows’ feet’ are caused by the muscles used when you smile, and the horizontal lines on your forehead are caused by raising your eyebrows. Wrinkle relaxation treatments work by relaxing those muscles, allowing your skin to appear smoother.

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Botulinum toxin is a purified protein which is injected into the muscle. This allows the muscle to temporarily relax, which can help to soften facial expressions and can improve the signs of aging.

Anti Wrinkle injections using Botulinum Toxin are one of the safest non-surgical methods to reduce these creases and create a smoother, more desirable appearance.

The procedure usually takes around 10-30 minutes and involves a series of injections into the muscles of the face that are causing the wrinkles.

You may find that there can be some slight discomfort as the needle enters the skin and you may have some bruising or bleeding where the needle has been placed.
Very rarely, Botulinum toxin may result in muscle weakness. All other rare, although possible side effects can be found within the patient information leaflet which comes with the product. Please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to give this to you.

If you are concerned or feel you are having a reaction please do not hesitate to contact us or your GP.

What to Expect on the Day

Before the treatment, any make up will be removed and the area will be cleansed. The product is placed into the muscle with a fine needle. You shouldn’t experience any discomfort. However, if you are sensitive we can use a topical anaesthetic cream, although in most cases this is not necessary.
The treatment itself will take 15 minutes and you can return to your usual activities immediately afterwards.

After having treatment with Botulinum toxin you are advised to avoid any rubbing of the area and to avoid any beauty treatments e.g. facial massage, Sauna’s and extreme temperatures for up to 2 weeks.  You will be required to attend a review appointment three weeks post treatment which is when any slight adjustments can be made, if necessary.

What Is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. Sweating is entirely natural, but some people find that they sweat a great deal, which they can find uncomfortable, inconvenient and embarrassing. Hyperhidrosis can occur naturally (it is often genetic) or it can be triggered by other medical factors. We would always advise that in the first instance you consult your doctor if you feel that you sweat too much, so that any underlying cause can be identified and tackled. Hyperhidrosis can affect different body parts; we typically see patients concerned about excessive underarm sweating.

How Is Hyperhidrosis & Excessive Sweating Treated?

If hyperhidrosis is interfering with your daily activities or causing you embarrassment it is worth treating. This treatment is not a cure – your symptoms will gradually return – but you can have repeated treatments to successfully manage your excessive sweating.

Will This Treatment Work For Me?

Hyperhydrosis can be challenging to treat. We recommend that you consult your GP to rule out any underlying causes. If there is an identifiable cause, it is often better to treat the cause than the symptom. If there is no underlying, we can advise you on whether this method is suitable for you when you come for a consultation.

How Long Does This Treatment Take?

You will need to arrange two appointments: the first will be an initial consultation, when we will carry out an examination and take full details of your concerns, medical history and current health so that we can properly advise you about what treatment options will best meet your needs. At your second appointment the treatment will be gently and carefully applied. You will be able to return to work the same day and should notice an improvement immediately.
